In the last half-century, soccer has emerged as one of the key ties that bind together an area of multi-generation natives and transplants from all over the globe, including long-time immigrants from places such as Cuba, Germany, Italy, and Spain, along with residents from Central America, South America, the Caribbean Islands, and Europe. 

Pele, soccer’s all-time great, called it “the beautiful game.” But in Tampa Bay, soccer has evolved into more than just a game. It’s a rallying point for children and senior citizens alike, a form of expression, a communal experience deeply woven into the culture. It’s a point of local pride and identification, along with tourism, a world-class airport, a global port, and one of the most important military bases on the planet. 

Tampa Bay’s diverse soccer heritage is something to be celebrated, and the Tampa Bay Soccer Hall of Fame intends to do just that by bringing together the soccer community. Each year, a new class of Hall of Famers will be inducted, providing a foundation of excellence to be spotlighted for generations to come. The game’s living history will be continuously chronicled by shining a light on the accomplishments of players, coaches, officials, teams, and contributors who produce the modern highlights. 

If there’s a championship accomplishment, we’ll celebrate it. If there’s a fantastic individual effort, we’ll put it in perspective. If there’s a worthy cause, we’ll get behind it. 

The world’s most popular sport has blossomed in the land of palm trees, gulf shores, and breathtaking sunsets. There has been an explosion of youth leagues and public high schools adding the sport to their lineups. College programs have gained momentum and reached championship levels. Top talent has headed to club teams. 

Whether it’s the youth, high school, college, amateur, or professional ranks, the Tampa Bay Soccer Hall of Fame will ensure that past legends are honored, and future generations are inspired.
